Step 1.Run the Data Recovery for Android on the Computer
Open Samsung Data Recovery on the computer and make a connection between your Samsung S7/S7 Edge and the computer via a USB cable.
Enable the USB debugging, if your connected device can't be recognized.
Step 2. Select the Files to Scan
After the detection on your device,you can check the type of data that you want to recover . Then select “Messages” and click “Next” button.
Step 3. Allow to Scan Your Device
Click on "Start" button to begin analyzing and scanning your Samsung S7/S7 Edge.
You need to let you device enter a suitable scan mode between Standard Mode and Advance Mode. You can try the “Standard Mode” first, which works faster. Otherwise,you can try the “Advanced Mode” later if “Standard Mode” does not adjust your device.
Make the battery power of your device no less than 20%.
Click on “Allow” button to confirm the Superuser authorization, when you meet during the scanning.
Step 4. Preview and recover deleted data on your S7 Edge
Preview the found data of SMS messages from your device one by one when the scanning finished. Check the data you want and click “Recover” to save them on the computer.
If you can’t distinguish which items is existing or deleted, just turn on the turn on the button of "Display deleted files only" or use the search function on the top right to search what you need in the scan result.
